Nudists Want Clothing-Optional Polling Site →
A nudist community on Florida’s west coast wants to be allowed a clothing-optional polling site. The Caliente Resorts, located in Pasco County north of Tampa, has approached election officials about the idea. Nothing in state law would prohibit it, but the supervisor of elections said he is opposed to creating any new precincts before redistricting in 2010. This would bring a whole...

Reagan's COS Joins the Obamacans →
Steve Benen: So, on the one hand, we have the McCain campaign and its cohorts working assiduously to convince voters that Obama is terrorist-sympathizing Marxist. On the other, we have Obama getting endorsements from Ronald Reagan’s national security advisor, solicitor general, and White House chief of staff. And Duberstein joins, of course, former Sen. Larry Pressler, former Secretary of...

Obama throws skeptical press off his plane...
southpol: sds: complicatedshoes: This is the future.  Remember this, bloggers, when you go into the booth on tuesday… The Obama campaign has decided to heave out three newspapers from its plane for the final days of its blitz across battleground states — and all three endorsed Sen. John McCain for president! The NY POST, WASHINGTON TIMES and DALLAS MORNING NEWS have all been told to move...

Atlas Shrugs: HOW COULD STANLEY ANN DUNHAM HAVE... →
(via John Cole) I couldn’t actually make it through reading this entire screed for fear of having an aneurysm, but the premise is this: Obama’s mother couldn’t have delivered him in Honolulu because she was enrolled at the University of Washington that same month, therefore, Obama’s father is Malcolm X. I shit you not and she is dead serious. I thought we’d hit...

Making McCain Look Small →
The Anonymous Liberal: I thought the Obama Show tonight was pretty well done.   Who knows how many undecided voters actually tuned in to watch it, but those who did had to have noticed the contrast between the Obama campaign and that of his opponent.  Obama’s campaign is clearly about big issues.  Whether or not you agree with his policies or think he’ll be able to do what he says,...

McCain is having to play defense in a number of unexpected places.  I doubt he’ll lose Arizona, but he now has to spend money to make sure.  Money that could be spent elsewhere.

Taxes I Believe in
peterwknox: soupsoup:muppetpants:streetsofchicago: We are about to trust a man with our government spending who has spent $4 million on 20 minutes of television space (to interrupt the World Series, might I add), $2 million on an election day celebration in Grant Park, and an average of $42 million per month on a campaign surrounding himself. Scapels out, America! He’s not...

Earlier this evening I went by one of the local Obama offices to pick up my nightly stack of data.  As I was getting out of my car another one pulled in and I noticed it had an NRA plate on the front.  That’s a little odd, but there are plenty of Democrats who own guns.  When I went by the back of the car, however, I noticed two McCain bumber stickers. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot? Two guys got...

Dozens Of Call Center Workers Walk Off Job In...
robot-heart:vruz: By Greg Sargent - October 27, 2008, 5:18PM Some three dozen workers at a telemarketing call center in Indiana walked off the job rather than read an incendiary McCain campaign script attacking Barack Obama, according to two workers at the center and one of their parents. Nina Williams, a stay-at-home mom in Lake County, Indiana, tells us that her daughter recently called her...

Orlando-area killings surpass 100 →
The Orlando area continued Sunday to climb toward a record-breaking year for homicides when a man was shot on a crowded dance floor in a South Orange Blossom Trail club and another man was shot during a home invasion. The killings brought the total number of homicides this year in Orlando and unincorporated Orange County to 101 — 12 short of the record of 113 set in 2006. Last year, 98...

Obama for president →
The Anchorage Daily News: Gov. Palin’s nomination clearly alters the landscape for Alaskans as we survey this race for the presidency — but it does not overwhelm all other judgment. I made freedom count
I went down to the library this afternoon and voted for Barack.  I waited in line about half an hour.  One of the poll workers said the wait was an hour and a half earlier in the day. After that, I went by one of the campaign offices and picked up a mountain of canvassing/call data to enter.
