Orlando-area killings surpass 100
The Orlando area continued Sunday to climb toward a record-breaking year for homicides when a man was shot on a crowded dance floor in a South Orange Blossom Trail club and another man was shot during a home invasion.
The killings brought the total number of homicides this year in Orlando and unincorporated Orange County to 101 — 12 short of the record of 113 set in 2006. Last year, 98 people were killed in the two regions. If we work hard, we can get there.
