Stephanie Cutter, spokesperson for President-elect Obama, indicating that the new president isn’t interested in petty disputes or holding political grudges. I think the Democrats should do whatever they want and don’t care whether they keep him or let him go. I just don’t think they should put up with any of his recent “threats”. Clearly, Obama can rise above it, but Lieberman can’t. Clearly if Mr. Obama is holding this position the Democrats aren’t likely to take away Lieberman’s chairmanship of the Homeland Security committee. (via election08) (via robot-heart)

Notice they didn’t say they’d be unhappy if Lieberman was tossed out of the caucus.  They also punted on the question of whether he should keep his chairmanship.  I think the caucus will vote to give Lieberman a different chairmanship.  If he throws a fit and leaves, he’ll look like an asshole and Obama looks magnanimous.  If he stays, Rahm can send him a nice note, wrapped around a dead fish, reminding him who he can thank.
