I would like to declare a moratorium on the word “presser.” The phrase is “press conference,” people. It’s only two more syllables (or really one more, considering the way most people pronounce “conference”). You’re not so important that you can’t spare the extra .005 seconds to say it instead of running around talking about Obama’s latest “presser.”

And despite what some people seem to think, “presser” does not make you sound like a member of some elite media circle. It makes you sound like a Rachel Ray knockoff — surely not something you aspire to.

Also, stop with every scandal being a gate.  The exception would be a scandal involving an actual gate.  Watching the bobbleheads on TV say gategate would be humorous.
